The Intangibles© Curriculum Now Available!

Dear Friends and Partners,,

What good is it for a student from a marginalized community to get into college or even transition into a career if he/she does not have the intangible skills necessary to sustain themselves long-term? Answer: No Good!

Our team at The Gifted Foundation has created a solution that will contribute to solving the problem of attrition in college graduation and/or career transition for students from low-income communities.

Our solution: The Intangibles© Curriculum is officially available for purchase on our website (! We have spent the last four years working with cohorts of students from across the country, but primarily in Atlanta on the campuses of Emory University and The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). During this time we have seen a number of failures and successes both with students and organizationally.

A Rising Star from Princeton University

tech_aa_girl“Dear Partners,My name is Janet Adelola and I am a rising senior at Princeton University. I study Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, with a minor in African American Studies. This summer, I have had the privilege of being an apprentice of Anthony through the Praxis Future Founders Program. As an apprentice, I’ve been able to function more than a typical intern by sitting in on most of Anthony’s meetings and by having real, in-depth conversations with Anthony, granting me full exposure to the world of entrepreneurship. Being able to experience this firsthand has taught me valuable lessons about the drive and work ethic required of being a CEO/founder and the necessity of work-life balance.

Gifted Foundation Partners to Launch CodeStart

Dear Partners,

As a refresher from some of our previous notifications, we have partnered with TechSquare Labs (TSL) to provide life and career readiness training to the very first cohort of students enrolled in a 13-month program called CodeStart! CodeStart introduces disconnected youth and under-employed young adults (18 to 24 years of age) from Atlanta to a program that mixes “coding, entrepreneurship, career readiness and financial readiness.” CodeStart is also collaborating with The Iron Yard for a 3-month coding education (in Java), 3-month entrepreneurship and career readiness prep, and a 3-6 month internship/apprenticeship in a technical role.

We are less than 30 days away from participating in the U.S. News STEM Solutions conference, taking place May 18th – 20th at The Hilton Baltimore in Baltimore, Maryland.  The 2016 conference marks the third year of bringing together a network of experts, advocates and change-makers who are proactively addressing filling jobs and advancing the future of the STEM workforce. The 2016 session aims to zero in on tangible results, real successes and collaborative strategies with proven outcomes in an effort to increase progress.
